Stripe Chic

Subtle shades of red & pink and numerous black & blue ….I’m definitely in stripe heaven this April.

If any outfit were to break the fashion rulebook, it would be this one: clashing vertical and horizontal stripes. I’ve owned these bold trousers from Zara for four years, and miraculously, they still fit without needing to be ironed. Stripes are timeless, ranging from pinstripes to bold deckchair patterns.

Capture the essence of spring in Notting Hill by striking a pose in the sunshine. This fun shirt from H&M adds a stylish touch to your look. Having lived here for 30 years, I still find it incredible that the number of tourists taking photos of the vibrantly eccentric houses continues to rise. On weekends, it becomes nearly impossible to walk on the pavements!

Does Parisian chic elegance ever fade? No, it evolves, especially with denim paired with elevated basics. Most of my outfit is vintage Zara, except for the bag. I found it at a thrift store while changing buses. When I got home, I discovered an old French newspaper tucked under the flap, along with a folded lace handkerchief. I often wonder about the original owner. After 22 years, this bag remains one of my most cherished finds.finds.

I’m currently sitting by Buckingham Palace after walking down Piccadilly, heading to Fortnum & Mason for some Easter eggs. I like to refer to this shirt as my "stick of rock" or "candy cane" look. The uplifting spring pinks and oranges always feel refreshing after the darker palettes of winter.

H&M has produced some lightweight, fun stripes this season. The items shown above are perfect for transitional styling. Have you noticed the trend of string ties or elastic waistbands? I find them both comfortable and flattering.

Choosing a solid color against a striped background is an effective technique for easy styling. I recently acquired this white blazer, which has become the perfect staple for transitioning between seasons. However, keeping it clean is a different challenge altogether..

I recently came across some drawstring casuals at Primark that I love. No, they’re not pyjamas, despite what Mr. Chic thinks! These easy-going basics are perfect for summer days, whether I’m strolling around town or visiting farmers’ markets. They’re incredibly versatile, and honestly, if I wear them in the garden or to bed, who cares? There are no boundaries when it comes to comfort!

Easter is here! It's time for my decorations and hot cross buns—a special time to celebrate. I’m wearing a fabulous loose-fitting blouse with pink stripes that allows plenty of room for indulging in chocolate Easter eggs.
