Decorating for Christmas

The entrance hall

December 1st is traditionally the day I start my festive decorating, it’s the start of Advent with the hanging of the wreath on the front door and the decorating of the staircase. The fresh ferns and holly are mixed with baubles tinsel and wrapped together with twinkling fairy lights.

Favourite decorations

The small gold tree holds my beautiful miniature American decorations. The cherished fragile ornaments stand in the hallway all purchased from New York over many years.

The fireplace

The focal point of the room, with fresh collected pine mixed with cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices and holly cut from trees in Holland Park. Creating a festive ambience with twinkling red lights to give the room a warm glow.

The tree 🌲

The most important and my favourite festive addition the tree? Normally 8 foot a fresh pine spruce that sits in the bay window. Fairly lights of mixed colours are layered among white and warm gold glowing bulbs.
