Back to black

Fashion fades, but style remains. The same is true for wearing black. Maybe after months of vibrant shocking pinks and luminous fruity opulence, a gradual return to "Chic noir" is happening.

For a special London lunch, I confidently selected the black dress. Despite it being July, I chose to go against the convention of wearing pastels or floaty chiffon. The elegant and effortless style of the gold button number felt perfect. As I cruised down the Thames, the rain came, and I was pleased to see that my dress remained impeccable unlike the others, which turned transparent or messy.

I share the same first name as the wonderful Tina Turner, and my look is inspired by "Nutbush City." When I got it, I wasn't sure if it was a dress or a top, and it wasn't new. The pearls on the dress are often seen as old-fashioned, but if Grace & Jackie knew when to wear them, so do I. After 20 years in the wardrobe, wearing these Prada shoes felt awkward after weeks of living in flats. Believe me, I was glad to get them off!

Why didn't I spend more time on my hair? Sometimes, it's the simplest things that are overlooked. Typically, I planned everything else, including an outfit made of pleats so it wouldn't wrinkle or crease. I am beginning to have a complex about the top of my arms, which goes against my "accept what you have and give it your best shot" attitude. Maybe it's because the pounds are creeping on and I feel like I'm losing control on this menopausal rollercoaster ride.

I took a picture to capture the sunny weather in London. The photo is in black and white, and I'm wearing a deep tan outfit that looks chic and elegant. I paired the look with vintage silver jewellery that matched my flashy shoes. I was waiting to go inside for lunch and was looking forward to enjoying a meal outdoors. It was so hot that the nail varnish stuck to the inside of my shoes!

New additions to the wardrobe I have convinced myself they will work over the Christmas Season with velvet pants to justify the splurge. Well, diamonds are a girl’s best friend possibly I will try them with black opaque tights as well…..they are gorgeous, especially in the sunshine.

I stopped by the local church, not to confess to buying more shoes, but to visit the morning farmers market. I enjoy sourdough bread and delicious salad but lately, the prices have risen so much that it's hard to justify the expense. I usually buy fruit on Portobello Road, but in the summer, prices skyrocket due to the influx of tourists.

I recently rediscovered my Cos culottes in the wardrobe. I grabbed them to pair with a chic basic black top. Despite being about 10 years old, these culottes still look as good as new, thanks to their high quality. Investing in good clothing is always worth it.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and, like me, already eagerly planning and embracing upcoming autumn trends and palettes
