New Year Reset
If you only look back, you’ll never move forward. So, head up, sunglasses on, earrings, lips painted, and a whiff of Chanel—I'm ready for 2025. Are you?
A quick recap for new friends: I’m Tina, currently 58 years old. I live in London with my husband and my dog, Cody. I recently retired after working in fashion retail for 40 years.
Influencing and blogging are my main interests. I firmly believe that age should never limit your experiences or expectations. This belief extends to style, elegance, and an attitude that only women of a certain age can truly appreciate or understand.
The New Year has inspired me to make significant changes in my life. I have decided to delete my TikTok and YouTube accounts because social media was taking over my time. I’m prioritizing real life over digital distractions and choosing to spend less time looking down at my devices and more time looking up at the world around me.
Many of the accounts I follow have either vanished or have started posting excessively, even twice a day, solely to chase followers. AI has emerged as a powerful tool, and I'm eager to explore it further, especially for photography. While acquiring new skills can be daunting, it’s an exciting journey that adds value and enhances creativity.
I haven't made any resolutions this year because I've learned they rarely last. Last year, however, I decided to stop justifying my purchases. My mother's death underscored the brevity of life and the impact of what we leave behind. Clearing out her apartment forced me to confront my constant craving for new things and tendency to overindulge.
This New Year, I’m taking a stand to “slow down.” I will prioritize reading, enjoy walks along the river, and finish the crossword puzzle. Life moves too quickly, and I refuse to let influencer marketing deadlines or video shoots distract me. My books, clothes, and promised coffee catch-ups deserve my attention.
A picture speaks a thousand words. The cream coat shown above is my mother’s, and the hat belongs to my dear friend Shirley, who tragically passed away just a week after my mother. Both of these remarkable women knew how to embrace life and spread joy to everyone around them. I think about the powerful memories they created every single day. We absolutely do express our lives through our wardrobes, and this reveals a great deal about who we are.
January 2025, Portobello Market. I used to take this route when I was 17, without any plans and with my entire life ahead of me. I imagined where I would live and work, picturing what life would be like in 50 years. Now, 50 years later, I'm still on the same street. I have lost many friends and family along the way—those who shaped who I have become. Their influence is undeniable, and I carry their memories with me as I navigate my life.
What will the next months bring ….join me for the journey …Tina
