In recent times our relationship with clothes and shopping has turned sour. The internet experience the Covid outbreak, the need for fast fashion. Have we lost the love of our high Street ?

“Garments made for life are thrown away”

“How low can you go & how much is to much”

“Fashion shelf life on-trend for one season

“We know the price but what’s the true cost”

Why I avoid the sales…

I have a serious dislike of sales it’s easy to get distracted by things you don’t need or items you buy because of the price. The temptation of brands labels salespeople displays ….the queues the mess.

IMG_7234.png

Check the price

The items normally with the highest discount are from previous seasons they have already been in a mid season sale. The retailer will be hoping to get a profit before sending to an outlet.

Covid shopping

The fitting rooms have remained closed I have clothes in my wardrobe from a size 4 to a size 12 they all fit .This can be turned to a great advantage at home, you have all your shoes to choose from and a choice of undergarments you can see what items in your wardrobe what they will work. Most stores offer 28 days to return, always check it’s not a credit note.

Is it really a bargain

if you really are unable to give in to the temptation of Sale remember just because it’s cheap it doesn’t mean it was a bargain unless it really suits you and you are going to wear it.

6 months later it’s hanging in the wardrobe the sale ticket still on it …or you wear it because it’s your bargain that you didn’t really go shopping for …then it’s off to the charity shop

IMG_7158.png

Be prepared

take the time to think of your needs before you see tempting red tickets

IMG_7257.png

Focus

Shop for what you want or need when we are in the excitement of a sale we get distracted with the price we let the fit and colour go out of our head.

IMG_7255.png

Real-life

Dress for where your body is now do not buy for when your diet finished or how your shape will be when your boot camp finishes.

IMG_7258.png

Inventory

What’s missing from your wardrobe I always replace white shirts or shop for classic items that will work with the clothes I have already had.

Setting a bad example

The COVID sale January 2021

Due to lockdowns in place, the sales would have launched online where possible The shops would have been left with a huge amount of Christmas party wear and evening outfits and accessories. The Covid crisis has left many of us working from home in casual or loungewear …if like me you saved your money by adding something that could be worn throughout the year with what you already had

The Sales

The purpose of the Sale is for the retailer to clear stock that either they over purchased or that the customer did not find desirable.

Before you pay …ask yourself

“Do I really need this”

“What will I wear it with”

“Why am I buying this”

“When will I wear it”

If the reason you’re buying is that it’s cheap…put it back & walk away

IMG_7224.png

Don’t buy trend buy classic

If it’s in the sale and you want that IT bag or trending item ..it’s no longer that ..it’s now last season’s left overs.

fear of missing out

Giving in to the fear of missing out may be causing you to keep up with a lifestyle you cant afford or purchase items well beyond your budget.Often fueled by the media and emails encouraging you to buy.

IMG_8094.png

Emotional rescue

don’t let your emotions dictate your purchase if you’ve had a bad day or feel the need to be rewarded don’t make excuses for buying unnecessary items.

Buy less but buy better
