Get packing

One of the best parts of taking a vacation is the fun of choosing and packing your favourite resort clothes. You don’t need to blow the budget for bags and accessories, beach attire rarely dates you can revisit your previous packing and what you have stored. A sturdy straw bag or colourful tote that resists water and sand with bright glass beads or plastic classy accessories will add to the easiness of matching outfits. Don’t get overwhelmed or leave everything to the last minute.

Editing the travel wardrobe

  1. How many outfits do you need

  2. Divide day and evening looks

  3. Lay everything out on the bed

  4. Create different combos

  5. Accessories are essential esp scarves

  6. Wear your heaviest shoes, outerwear on the plane to free up room

  7. Always carry jewellery, watches, and sunglasses on your person

My holiday rules

keep it simple

Wear what makes you feel free and happy. A classic stripe in blue or red, or a well cut costume simply go with your heart don’t over pack or complicate.

Less is more

A hat and shorts in a neutral colour will go with everything all you need to do is grab a fab t-shirt or vest.

The shoes

I travel in sneakers and only take flats. Taking into account that it’s a beach holiday a pair of waterproof flip flops are essential. A thong toe or bar gives options, the pom-pom shoes are easy to adjust and the Dior are dressy for the evening.

Swimwear

Two bikinis, one tankini and a black swimsuit. The hat flat packs and two sets of sunglasses.

Baskets of summer

Basket shopper

Shopping, market, boat & day trips.

Beach basket

Towels, snorkel, water, lotion & hat.

Star beach basket

The quint essential carryall basket. In a variety of shapes, sizes and colours, probably the cheapest bag most of us own.

Beach dresses

It’s always wise to pack a long lightweight dress in a beautiful bright colour. Worn during the day over a costume or sightseeing with flip flops the same dress can be dressed up with espadrilles and a chunky belt in the evening.

Easy packing

Hand luggage.

Money, tickets, passport, keys, technology. If on a long flight I add a soft pashmina. I now pack a phone charger, if there is a delay or cancelled flight it will be essential to recharge.

Practical Prada

I had the sense to invest in a nylon Prada carry on and a smaller bag about 20 years ago. The fabric is tough, wipe able and holds everything, it looks chic and clean and it has lasted well.

Simplicity, comfort and stylish …what you wear getting there is as important as what you wear after you arrive. Wear fabrics that require minimum care, linen wrinkles, cotton lycra doesn’t. Try everything on, nothing is worse than getting away and discovering that last year’s shorts or swimsuit doesn’t fit. From standing in line at check-in or walking through the hotel lobby people notice, judge or mentally take in your wardrobe. Make sure it’s for the right reasons, those holiday photographs last a long time.

Take a tip from Liz, a block colour loose fitting outfit & flat ballet shoes. Nothing enhances a tan like some gold bling, and a stylish bag …keeping it simple and comfortable.

Look magazine

There’s a lot to be said for good luggage. Although when it comes to Louis Vuitton words are unnecessary.

For fashion minded travelers and history buffs who enjoy looking back at the early days of travel only one label dominates the luxurious world of exploring, jet setting and “arriving in style”.

Louis Vuitton Malletier

The name Louis Vuitton is synonymous with everything special, magical and luxurious about travelling in style. His first shop opened in 1854, in rue Neuve des Capucines Paris.

Patronised by the wealthy, famous and celebrated, his passion for building trunks in an era when boat and train travel was in high demand saw his business expand worldwide. After his death in 1892 his son George took over and opened the store in Londons Bond street making it the oldest LV address in the world.

Windsor style

The wandering Windsors

The lifestyle embraced by the Royal couple was the very epitome of social snobbery. After leaving England following the abdication they lived in the Bahamas, Paris, Palm beach…even taking up permanent residence at New York’s Waldorf Astoria. The couple were featured on best dressed lists throughout the 1940, 50s & 60s. Their love of jewellery is well documented, both adored fashion and setting trends. The clothes in all these images could be worn today, they are timeless, elegant and stylish.

Travel weekly

by the 1920s Louis Vuitton stood as the worlds most foremost creator of quality luggage and accessories. Among the many celebrities travelling with the legendary luggage was the Duchess of Windsor who had her suitcases personalised, a trend that carries to this day.

Royal style

Coco Chanel

The Alma bag shape was originally created in a larger form of luggage, but in 1925 Coco Chanel asked LV to reduce the size for her daily use. In 1935 the new style was put in to production and over the years it’s popularity has soared, replicated in various sizes and colours.
